Groundbreaking empowerment programme for black girls aged 8yrs - 17yrs old.
Encouraging young girls to live fearless lives using story-telling, coaching, creative therapy and supporting organisations who provide a service to children and young people to enhance their diversity and inclusion opportunities.
The BRAVE Black Girl slogan is, ‘My Blackness is Fabulous!’
Black girls need access to services that reflect their identity, and BRAVE Black Girl is here to provide it!
The programme uses the BRAVE characteristics of the main character Hattie, from my novel Halo Hattie and the Galaxiers Discovery, to inspire black girls to use their voices, believe in themselves and to develop skills to help them become BRAVE leaders of the future.
BRAVE Black Girls is designed to:
Develop moral courage
Build emotional resilience
Increase sense of belonging
Embrace black identity
Develop awareness of and enhance mental health
BRAVE Black Girl opens up the conversation about recognising the unique challenges faced by black girls and it provides a safe space to explore their feelings and boost their confidence whilst on their BRAVE Black Girl journey.
…it’s likely you’re here as we’ve met at an event, or you’ve read my Halo Hattie novel! You may already know my story, but just in case you’re new here….
I’ve worked with children and families for 25 years! For 10 of those years, I wrote Halo Hattie. I know it’s a long time, but I was busy working, ok! I had a lot to juggle ☺️
Since self-publishing Halo Hattie, I discovered that I could combine my experience and qualifications in social work (MA), coaching (Lv 5 Diploma), and as a therapeutic play practitioner, to create the BRAVE Black Girl Programme.
I've seen first hand, the benefits of working creatively and therapeutically with children and families over the years. It's wonderful to see them empowered whilst building their emotional literacy, resilience, and social skills - and of course, walk away with bucket loads of confidence! I love to see it🥰
Due to the success of young girls being inspired by Hattie as a black female lead character, I’ve had requests drop into my inbox from professionals, parents and organisations to develop a course from the novel. I've already had global success with my online Course The Creative Child, so, here I am!
If you’ve met me, you will already know that there is a shortage of black protagonists (let alone black female protagonists) in children’s fiction, hence, the first course from Halo Hattie is BRAVE Black Girl. I’m super proud to lead this programme and cannot wait to meet you all! 🤩
Check out the details of the programme below. If you’re interested, let’s book a date to start the BRAVE Black Girl journey!
The mission of the programme is to provide support to black girls to help them excel in education, leadership, entrepreneurship and to support organisations to further enhance their diversity and inclusion opportunities.
BRAVE Black Girl values are:
Authenticity
Passion
Creativity
Inclusivity
Education
