LA Edwards

LA Edwards released her debut novel Halo Hattie and the Galaxiers Discovery. A children’s book with a black female lead character. Statistics show that there are significantly less children’s fiction books that feature black protagonists, and the new page-turner by LA Edwards is set to turn that statistic on its head.

LA Edwards has 20+ years of experience working with children, and her creation reflects black culture whilst entertaining and encouraging the development of children's confidence and moral reasoning skills.

Selling out all copies of her book at a soft launch in 2021, the fast-rising author has also received offers for her work to be stocked in independent book shops and now features in local libraries. As well as fans and book lovers asking for a sequel, LA Edwards has featured in the Birmingham Mail, radio and magazines.

Halo Hattie and the Galaxiers Discovery continues to enjoy sterling reviews from parents, professionals and children who all agree it is exhilarating, inspiring, and compelling read that helps to improve vocabulary and helps children to feel seen in literature.

LA Edwards’ success is reflected in her recent nominations for prestigious awards! She lead with two nominations in the Black Owned Birmingham Awards 2022, a Global Powerhouse Award and a finalist in the Baton Awards! This will be a stand out year for the LA Edwards - certainly, one to watch!

“Destiny has a sound”

I write to increase the representation of black culture in children’s fiction, and through a comedy lens, inspire children to believe they can do anything!

More about me…

I believe that unconditional love is the purest form of who you are. As a children's author, I believe that it's my purpose to inspire and excite children with stories that teach them about themselves—to show them their potential for good in this world and what they can achieve.

In every story I write, there are lessons to be learned—lessons about love, friendship, perseverance and kindness. These are the things that help us to connect us to one another.

I want to help kids see their own brilliance and encourage them to create their own worlds in which they are free to follow the sound of their own destiny.
